INOVUES Signs MOU with Alliance of 140 Utilities Developing Incentives for Window Retrofits

Houston, TX – July 20, 2020 – INOVUES, an award-winning window technology company focused on building upgrades and energy efficiency retrofits, announced today that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance (NEEA), an alliance of more than 140 utilities in the Northwest, to participate in NEEA’s Window Attachments Program’s commercial field test, which will begin in 2020 and end in 2021. NEEA, in partnership with local utilities, is conducting field tests on the energy performance of commercial secondary window products in Northwest climates to aid in the development of incentive programs. NEEA, in collaboration with a variety of Northwest utilities and energy efficiency organizations, market actors, and manufacturers, will identify 8-12 installation sites in NEEA’s region – Idaho, Oregon, Montana, Washington – to participate in the field test. INOVUES was selected as one of 5 manufacturers to upgrade the windows in the buildings that will be selected. NEAA will help incentivize building owners to participate by providing a product cost reduction of $1 per square foot in addition to a special discount by the manufacturers. The selected buildings will be monitored for 9-12 months after the installation and a final report will be published at the end of each project. Receiving independent third-party verification of the results is especially important for future projects in a market known for its significant sustainability efforts. This field test comes after a characterization study of the market for secondary windows was conducted by Evergreen Economics for NEEA, which was published recently featuring INOVUES. The purpose of the study was to aid in the development of a program intended to transform the market so that secondary windows become the standard product and practice for addressing low-performing windows in existing commercial buildings. NEEA will consider any project for the program, but preference for inclusion in the field test will be given to office, hospitality, and school buildings. The whole building or a zone of a building maybe treated with secondary windows, if the zone can be separately metered for energy analysis. A Project may only select a secondary window product from NEEA’s field test product list. All products on NEEA’s list will come from manufacturers that have signed an MOU with NEEA and have been simulated by an Attachments Energy Ratings Council (AERC) accepted simulator.
